We limit our enrollment to 12 students per session in order to provide the most effective interactive learning experience.
July 22-26 in West Hills
Because camp is held at a private residence - Christina's house - the actual address will be given upon confirmed registration.
Weekly sessions may also include field trips and/or guest speakers depending on availability of potential presenters.
Christina Faulkner McDonough is a busy piano teacher with 18 years experience and a full studio of students. In addition to her role as piano teacher, she is also the resident music instructor at Casa de Matheu Daycare.
She is Orff-Schulwerk certified in Level I and II, a member of MTAC, AOSA and received her B.A. from the University of Southern California.
Our fourth summer will include both instructional and collaborative activities designed to enrich students' hands-on musical and performance skills, creativity, self confidence, understanding of historical contexts, and community.
Weekly themes will serve to contextualize and create a unifying thread for multiple artistic disciplines to be explored.
Our Summer 2019 themes and some examples of our activities are:
ANIMALS, ANIMALS, ANIMALS!
(K-2 age group)
Animals - real and imagined - will be a springboard for exploration. Students will learn the fundamentals - emphasis on the fun! - of music notation, rhythm, and composing as well as gaining hands on experience with percussion, recorder and piano. Additional activities will include mask-making, painting and a stop-motion movie.
The actual activities and timing of activities for each day may vary, especially if a field trip or guest speaker is involved. The above schedule is to provide an example only.
*Participants are required to bring a daily sack lunch. Water will be provided.
